About our J24 – 3rd Ypres – The Final Days – Oct
Ypres (aka Ieper), is a town in the Belgian province of West Flanders. It is surrounded by Ypres Salient battlefields, where many cemeteries, memorials and war museums honour the German-Allied battles that unfolded in this area during World War I.
After the war, most of the town's important buildings were reconstructed meticulously, including Gothic-style Sint-Maartenskathedraal (St. Martin's Cathedral) and its soaring spire.
Start Date: 08/10/2017
These 5 day tours cover the area from Ypres in Belgium down to the Somme battlefields in France. We can include all Commonwealth actions such as Loos, Fromelles, Neuve Chapelle, Aubers Ridge, Arras, Vimy Ridge, Villers Bretonneux, Cambrai etc. All of our tours are individually tailored according to the requirements of the guests and we follow the actions of relatives with the aid of trench maps and the unit war diaries. We generally base ourselves for two nights at the 3 star hotel Beatus in Cambrai and for 2 nights at the 4 star Ariane hotel in Ypres. Now named Ieper it was commonly known to the British Tommy as "Wipers". Flemish is the language used here in the province of West Flanders, Belgium.
