Here, we hope to answer any remaining questions that you may have. If you still do not find the answer you require, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0044 (0) 1507 523128.

Do all the hotels you use have a lift?
Most do, but where this service is not available, ground-floor accommodation can generally be arranged if required.
Do BBJ Ltd. issue set itineraries prior to a tour departure?
No, because we do not arrange set tours and we are led by the results of the research and specific requests. The research takes a considerable amount of time, with numerous adjustments being made during the development of the programme, so we issue the detailed itinerary on the day of departure.
Do the fluctuating exchange rates and/or increases in accommodation and transportation costs affect me?
No. Our quoted price remains unaffected by these fluctuations and BBJ Ltd. absorb all such increases.
Do you operate a no-smoking policy?
Smoking is not permitted in our vehicles and guests are not permitted to smoke in restaurants. We do allow time for comfort breaks when travelling.
How do I make a booking?
It is best to check by telephone first regarding availability and our staff will be pleased to advise on the most appropriate battlefield tour for your particular interests.
A deposit of £75.00 per person will secure your place(s) and the balance becomes payable 42 days prior to departure.
How do I make payments?
We accept payment in Sterling, either by cheque, money or postal order. We can accept payment in Sterling by electronic transfer. We also accept online payments by most credit and debit cards through our PayPal account.
If I want to find out more about a relative who served in the Great War, can you help?
Yes. We have our own extensive library and database and undertake in-depth research for you at the National Archives and other sources such as military museums.
Is the tour just visiting cemeteries?
No. We create a varied itinerary which includes battlefield walks, visits to memorials, bunkers, trench systems and museums. We also appreciate the need for some time to relax where you can explore on your own.
What are the benefits of joining a ‘small-group’ Tour?
Guests in a small group receive a very high level of individual service and care. Comprehensive research can also be provided on behalf of each member to trace actions of individuals and units. We have more time to walk and explore the ground and the use of vehicles appropriate to the small size of our groups enables us to visit battlefield sites that are often off the beaten track and not accessible to large coaches.
What do BBJ Ltd. offer larger groups?
Larger groups are afforded the same high standards as small groups and the tours are also fully inclusive. However, it is usually not practical to undertake individual research or to explore individual actions to the same depth. Most large groups will have a mutual interest in particular units and areas and we do carry out research on behalf of the group as a whole. For larger-group tours we are able to offer a reduction on the all-inclusive per-person cost. We shall be pleased to provide a quotation based on the likely number of travellers and duration.
What if I have a special dietary requirement?
This is not a problem and the appropriate arrangements will be made with the hotels.
What if I require a single room?
The tour price is based on the sharing of twin rooms with private facilities. For a single room there is a single supplement of £30.00 per night. This is a direct charge to us by the hotel and is beyond our control.
What is a ‘small group’ and what constitutes a ‘large group’?
Small group is 5 to 7 guests. Large groups cater for 9 to 58 guests.
What is the difference between a ‘bespoke’ and a ‘scheduled’ tour?
ALL of our tours, bespoke or scheduled, are individually tailored according to the requirements of the participants. Scheduled tours depart from and return to Dover.  The areas visited on these tours include the Western Front (The Somme to Ypres), solely The Somme, solely Ypres, or Normandy. Our bespoke tours can include alternative collection and departure points, and various combinations of theatres of war. Scheduled tour prices are fixed, bespoke prices are individually costed according to the requirements of the guests. Scheduled tours cater for a maximum of 7 guests, bespoke tours can be designed for any number. For further information about our bespoke tours please click here.
What makes BBJ Ltd. different from other battlefield tour operators?
Every BBJ Ltd. battlefield tour is individually designed according to the wished of the participants and therefore no two are the same.  Accordingly, we do not offer preset standard tour itineraries.  Uniquely, all of our tours are truly fully-inclusive and we also include a research service for our guests within the cost.
When will I be informed of the detailed tour arrangements?
Joining instructions and other details are forwarded upon receipt of the balance.
Will I need a passport?
Yes, valid for at least 6 months after the date of completion of your battlefield tour.
